Celine Dion donated a private concert Friday, Dec. 16, a sellout crowd, the extension of the Baptist cardiac & vascular Institute in Miami to benefit. Dion has her appearance in gratitude to the Institute for the life-saving procedure performed, her husband, René Angélil, under the direction of Dr. Barry cats, founder and Medical Director of the Institute.
"It started a little two and a half years ago. We were quite scared. Our family doctors found that René his brain, the carotid artery had a critical narrowing of the artery, put him a high risk for a stroke, '' Dion said in a video with her husband at the event presented.
Angélil said he was a candidate for the surgery, so his doctors for a less invasive approach saw. "they had about [Dr. cats] work with non-invasive treatments heard and told them basically he was the best man to me worry", Angélil said.
The audience of 1,700 enjoyed a reception before the concert of 20 at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater. Presenting sponsor for the event, Audemars Piguet, official timekeeper of the Baptist Hospital, hosted an exclusive dinner after the show.
The extension includes the development of a National Centre for aneurysm treatment, Center for advanced Endo-vascular and structural heart therapy and other special centres. The concert raised $6 million, including in connection with the campaign contributions. Event benefactor Victor E. Clarke, an honorary member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Health Baptist all posts match up to $5 million for the capital campaign.
