Colombian superstar Shakira is due to arrive in Berlin next month. The Hips Don't Lie singer has a concert lined up at the German capital's O2 World venue on Thursday December 9th, when fans from across the country will be heading to Berlin hotels (http://www.laterooms.com/en/k12936832_berlin-hotels.aspx).
As one of four German dates on Shakira's European tour, the show is likely to feature plenty of songs from last year's She Wolf album. The South American performer is known around the world for her distinctive vocals and unique take on belly-dancing. Shakira first found fame outside her native country with the 2001 single Whenever, Wherever.
Since then, she has enjoyed a string of major hits with songs such as Underneath Your Clothes, Don't Bother and the number one smash Hips Don't Lie, which features Wyclef Jean. The 33-year-old also celebrated a UK number one single in 2007 with Beautiful Liar, her collaboration with Beyonce. Reviewing the She Wolf album in October last year, NME praised the artist for her enduring unpredictability and refusal to follow musical trends. "Eccentricity is a must when it comes to pop music and Shakira has it by the bucketload," the publication commented.
The singer lived up to her reputation at a recent concert in Anaheim, California, by performing a surprise encore from the roof of a car in the parking lot after the show. Shakira's Berlin concert is due to begin at 20:00 local time and tickets are now available online, priced between €67.30 (£58.60) and €73 (£63.50).
