The Connection: Black Love Lives. An Inspiring Documentary Debuts In Philadelphia

What started out as a class project for filmmaker, Nisa Ra, has morphed into a full video exploration of lasting African American love and relationships with stories from couples ranging in ages from 20s to 90s.  The documentary, The Connection: Black Love Lives, will debut in Philadelphia on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 7pm at the Community Education Center (CEC), 3500 Lancaster Avenue.  A post-screening reception and panel discussion further exploring the topic will feature a family therapist, notable black psychologist and celebrity couple, Kindred the Family Soul. Zumba Instructor La’Reese Felix Supports 1Goal with Shakira and the South African World Cup 2010

Recently, local Zumba instructor, La’Reese Felix had the opportunity to use Zumba, to help children around the world.  Zumba is an aerobic fitness program created by Miami-based dancer and choreographer Beto Perez and two entrepreneurs, Alberto Perlman and Alberto Aghion. It originated in Colombia in the 1990s and is taught by some 20,000 instructors in 35 countries.

Shakira, long-time friend of Beto Perez, creator of Zumba, had asked Zumba Fitness Instructors to demonstrate their support and individual flare by choreographing a Zumba dance to her newest song, WAKA WAKA (This time for Africa), which premiered at the South African World Cup 2010 as the official song of the event, and then to post it on YouTube. Shakira, a 1GOAL ambassador, spent some time with the children of South Africa and visited the school systems.  

1GOAL and Shakira hope to help the 72 million deprived children around the world, who are not in school, get an education.  They, along with Zumba, created 1 Song, 1 Dance, 1GOAL - education for all.  1GOAL is urging heads of state and world leaders to ensure that every child is in an education program by the next FIFA World Cup in Brazil, four years from now.

Top 10 Most Copied Celebrity Styles Revealed

In a bid to discover more about the fashion-conscious females in the UK, www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk looked into site statistics and polled 1,452 women aged between 18 and 30 to discover the top 10 most copied celebrities, in terms of style, that influence them the most. Two thirds, 68%, of the women admitted to copying a celebrity’s style, in one way or another, in the past.

When asked “Why do you copy the style of a celebrity?” 23% stated that they just want to look like them, whilst 14% copied female stars to achieve the ‘trendiest’ looks. 8% claimed to do so because they thought that if something looked good on a celebrity, it would look good on them. 19% said they would even buy something they originally didn’t like, after seeing it on a celebrity, and would trust the celebrity’s fashion taste rather than their own.

On top of clothes, a tenth of the respondents said that they had also based a previous haircut on the style of a celebrity’s, whilst 17% copied make-up styles to help them achieve the celebrity look. The Top 10 most copied celebrity styles, according to the most popular search results on MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, are:

Celine Dion draws sell-out crowd on private benefit concert in Miami

Celine Dion donated a private concert Friday, Dec. 16, a sellout crowd, the extension of the Baptist cardiac & vascular Institute in Miami to benefit. Talent Management: Rihanna Wraps Up American Vogue Cover Shoot

A couple of days ago, the team at Talent Management managed to read Rihanna’s revealing Tweet before it was subsequently taken down. It read: “Just wrapped my first American Vogue cover shoot with Annie Leibovitz...Rah! #SEXY.” Renowned for featuring an elite group of classic actresses on its covers, such as Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway and Nicole Kidman, it seems Vogue is taking more risks this year.

Of course it was a different story just two years ago. Rihanna was axed from the cover when Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour learnt of nude pictures of the star being revealed online back in 2009. Now though it seems she has a second chance to finally become a Vogue cover girl first-timer. And she’s not the only one. As rumours have it, The Twilight Saga’s Kristen Stewart is fronting the magazine's February cover this year, while pop extremist Lady Gaga is supposedly set to star on the March cover.
