With the destiny's Child reunion in 2013 Superbowl, an African American first lady, annual Rock Award Black Girl on the bet and a large increase in the amount of positive role performed by African American women on television, the morale of black women in America is taking a dramatic turn in the right direction. This has lead Houston Modeling Agency, local company in the true Angel of models, to venture into unknown territory and develop a policy of "non-derogatory video".
Explicitly written in your booking agreement is a declaration announcing that all models are strongly encouraged to refuse any role they feel displays them, or women in a negative light. The Agency will also screen for preemptively explicit or vulgar and strongly refuse them in advance. "We know that we will lose some business with this policy," says the Manager of the Agency, Brittany Hardiman, "but the standard we set for girls is worth much more than any commitment can accommodate. If they are looking for twerkers, they have many options for this, but if an artist or company wants class and beauty, the real Angels definitely should be in the race. Let's keep it sexy, but limit the PG sexy. "
The history of promiscuous model "video" is not a new one as many of these papers are picked by strippers, escorts and women who will do anything for a small taste of Fame. In 2005, the popular video model Karrine Steffans, released a book titled "confessions of a video Vixen" where she shares memories of his sexual exploits and gives the reader at a glance of countless women's expectations in music/entertainment industry. "Karrine is not saying anything new," says the real angels, Kris-Chuhn, "before joining the real angels, who has walked out of fashion that I know that have boosted my career because of the way that the artists were talking to us. Pretty much had to stop making videos, especially rap, because most of the time you just feel like a piece of meat. I mean, I'm the first cut but still meat, "she jokes.
The newest model of true Angel, Robin, imposes its own video and photo policy. "There is no bedroom scenes, there is nudity, no kissing, no exceptions! My smile makes me modeling gigs and if that isn't enough, then I'm not the girl for the job. Sex sells, but so does marketing, creativity and art. "
Robin worked for local Houston artist as Rob Gullatte, duck and Bigg Fatts. She is also a promotional model for Rouge Boutique along with Kris-Chuhn and Brianca model mate Jay. For a closer look at the Houston Modeling Agency take a look at her behind the scenes video: http://youtu.be/XXekGPVMX-4.
While the Superbowl last night was a motivating catalyst for African American women, women as a whole should take pride in knowing that if a group of women can headline for a male dominated sport such as football, there's no reason why women should feel intimidated about the main attraction card rooms around the world.
