"I Want to Know What Love Is" was covered by American singer Mariah Carey as the second single from her twelfth studio album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. The single, produced by Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart and James "Big Jim" Wright, was released in Europe on August 28 and will be released in the United States in September.

Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is the twelfth studio album by American R&B and pop recording artist Mariah Carey. Originally scheduled for release on August 25, 2009 the project was delayed until September 15, 2009 and again to September 29, 2009 in the United States, through Island Records, although like most albums, it will be released in some international markets a few days before the U.S. and some markets a few days after. The album's second single will be a cover of Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" The song premiered to European radio on August 28, 2009.


On the album, Carey is re-united with award-winning producers and songwriters The-Dream and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, the team responsible for her previous number one single "Touch My Body". Carey also worked with long-time collaborator and friend James "Big Jim" Wright.
